For BEAUTIFUL, I had the pleasure of working with designer Kimberly O’Loughlin, whom I met in 2019 and have considered a mentor and role model ever since. My responsibilities over the course of the show included recording cast voice-overs, note-taking, updating paperwork, communicating with both the SM and A1 on behalf of my designer, and programming work notes in MainStage, QLab and the theatre’s Avantis mixer.

This show was the first time I’d worked with MainStage as the primary form of outboard processing for Reverb, De-essing, EQ, etc. It was really interesting how using this software helped recreate the “studio” aesthetic of these well-known songs in their live form.

Carole King’s music holds a special place in my heart, as it does for many. It was a joy to see her work and story recreated and I very much enjoyed being apart of it.
