Little Shop of Horrors (Winnipesaukee Playhouse)

LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse (Meredith, NH) — July 2025

Directed by Timothy L’Ecuyer, Choreographed by Chloe Kounadis, Scenic Design by Melissa Shakun, Costume Design by John Beltre, Lighting Design by Tyson Miller

Role: Sound Designer, A1

I had such a wonderful experience working on this show! Our Director Tim L’Ecuyer was extremely generous and trusting with the creative team and let us all follow our instincts and create a beautiful and collaborative show.

I found myself becoming really endeared to the music and story of this show. Mixing these songs was such a blast and I found myself bopping along in the back every night. Although his gas mask makes it the biggest audio challenge in the show, Orin’s “Now (It’s just the Gas)” remains my all time favorite number (with “You Never Know” in close second).

Systems Design

  • Console: Allen & Heath Qu-32, line-by-line mix

  • 8 mic’d actors (and two hot spares) using Countryman B3’s on custom ear rigs and Shure ULX transmitters

  • Used the House PA system plus 12 additional loudspeakers used for both spacial SFX and performer fold back

  • Content Design: because our production followed a different direction with Audrey II, the content design was more so focused on environment and world building versus trying to animate Audrey II with plant sound effects and aural embellishment
